"A Painter in Kyoto" is a documentary series chronicling the transformative journey of a painter as she traverses Japan during the changing seasons, meeting other artists along the way.
Tami was commissioned by London/Kyoto based County Hall Arts to direct and create a series of short-form documentaries in Kyoto, Japan. Spanning 5-10 minutes each, these films delves into the painter’s journey around Kyoto, as well as lives and crafts of local artisans, featuring immersive encounters with masters of indigo dyeing, tea ceremony, Japanese pottery, traditional Nihonga painting, and Wagashi confectionery.
Directed, shot and edited by Tami Dončić over a three-month period in Kyoto, Japan.
